Individual Therapy

From the beginning of their stay, each guest is assigned a primary therapist with whom them will work with during treatment. Guests are paired with a therapist who will suit them best based on issues that need addressing, likes/dislikes, and personality. Sometimes sharing in a group setting can be intimidating or scary, or perhaps a guest just doesn’t feel comfortable sharing something with a group just yet. As a result, individual therapy is an important tool in addiction treatment because it allows for an open and honest conversation in a private setting.

In these therapy sessions individuals typically explore and process things such as trauma, grief and loss, anger management, addiction and unresolved issues. Getting to the root of these issues is indispensable in the process of recovery. Our expert therapists provide the support necessary to each and every guest, making recovery possible.

At Royal Life Centers, we don’t believe in pre-determined treatment plans, or one a one size fits all approach. Instead, our therapists work closely with each guest to design a treatment plan that will be most effective for them. Specialized plans take into account guests’ unique needs, goals, and circumstances.

Individual therapy at Royal Life Centers at Cascade Heights helps guests to gain a better understanding of their substance use disorder. It can also be very helpful in treating other co-occurring disorders such as depression and anxiety. We work to get to the core of each guest’s substance abuse issues. Some of the methods we use during individual sessions include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and traditional talk therapy.

During residential inpatient, guests will see their individual therapist every day. During PHP and IOP guests meet with their therapist once per week.

Group Therapy

Group therapy makes up a large part of the daily programming at Royal Life Centers. The power of group therapy shows in the numerous benefits that it offers. Positive reinforcement, peer support, and behavioral and emotional change are just a few examples of how group therapy changes lives.

Our group therapy sessions are led by experienced addiction professionals who guide the focus of the group and design sessions that are conducive to recovery. There is no greater power when it comes to fighting addiction than knowing you are not alone. Group therapy puts our guests with peers who are going through many of the same struggles, and victories, together. Relating to others, and finding solutions together, allows guests to build a sober support network.

Royal Life Centers at Cascade Heights group therapy options include: psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), skill development, supportive group, process group, 12-step groups, relapse prevention, community involvement, cultural groups, expressive group, physical wellness groups, and a variety of other group topics. We also offer a unique music therapy program called Sober Studios. This program allows guests to process through their emotions through song-writing, music-making, and producing music in our fully-euipped sound studio.

Our group facilitators create a safe, welcoming environment where guests can share as much or as little as they feel comfortable. Of course, Royal Life Centers strongly encourages active participation in group. Seeing other can relate to their experiences helps guests to feel accepted. The more comfortable a guest feels sharing in a group, the easier it is sharing and confiding in peers beyond treatment.

During detox and residential inpatient, guests attend group five hours a day, seven days a week. Then, during PHP, guests will attend group six hours a day, six days per week. During IOP guests attend groups for three hours a day, three days a week. At the OP level of care, guests work closely with their therapist to decide how often to attend groups.

Activity Therapy

Our activity therapy includes art therapy, music therapy, movement therapy, and journaling. Our holistic approach to addiction treatment at Royal Life Centers includes healing the mind, body, and soul.

Art Therapy

Royal Life Centers at Cascade Heights offers art therapy that includes painting, sculpting, as well as other forms of artistic expression. Building on the known connection between art and expression, our art therapy groups allow for guests to explore and express themselves. While in recovery, having an outlet to freely express yourself is very important. Our hands-on activities are known to manage stress and anxiety, promote self-discovery, and allow for personal reflection.

Journaling Therapy

Journaling is a highly effective tool that helps facilitate personal reflection. At Royal Life Centers at Cascade Heights we suggest that all of our guests journal their thoughts and feelings. Journaling can help bring awareness to self-defeating behaviors and patters in one’s life, which is the first step in getting well.

Music Therapy

The connection between music and emotions is undeniable. Royal Life Centers at Cascade Heights fosters this connection with seminar-style music groups as well as a professional grade studio- our Sober Studios,- which allows guests to create their own music. Music therapy is known to promote wellness, reduce stress, enhance memory, and improve communication. It has also been known to be helpful facilitating physical rehabilitation.

Movement Therapy

Movement therapy at Royal Life Centers at Cascade Heights offers popular activities for balancing the mind and body. Yoga is one of the most popular and widely recognized ways to strengthen this mind/body connection. We offer yoga classes regularly as a way to encourage mindfulness and physical health. Yoga has been proven to help the brain rebuild and repair the connections that were damaged by substance abuse.

Adventure Therapy

Our two primary forms of adventure therapy include camping and kayaking. The beautiful scenery of Mead, Washington offers the perfect setting to get out into the wilderness and get active.

Kayaking

Our kayaking adventures at Royal Life Centers at The Bridges are another example of our belief in the healing powers of nature. Arizona’s beautiful red-rock back drop provides a pristine environment of serenity that furthers each guest’s recovery. Group kayaking is known to strengthen problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Additionally, it is a great way to get some exercise in the beautiful outdoors.

Equine Therapy

At Royal Life Centers at Cascade Heights, our equine therapy program provides guests a unique opportunity for healing. Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAT) promotes healing through the special connection guests create with horses. Sessions consist of petting, grooming, feeding, caring for, and leading horses. Guests do not ride the horses. Through caring for and being with these animals’ guests typically become more in touch with their emotions. Because horse are so responsive to human interaction, EAT provides a variety of different biofeedback for guests.

During the activity and after a guest has finished working with the horse, the therapist observes and interacts with guests in order to identify thoughts, emotions, and behavior patterns. Equine therapy can also increase cognitive skills, and help to manage symptoms of mental health disorders. Additionally, equine therapy has been known to show improvement in:

  • Emotional awareness
  • Empathy
  • Impulse control
  • Assertiveness
  • Flexibility
  • Responsibility
  • Independence

The main goal of equine therapy is to help guests develop essential skills such as accountability, responsibility, self-confidence, problem solving skills, and self-control. Many of the benefits of equine therapy come from the nature of the animals. Horses are non-judgmental, have no expectations or motives, and are known to mirror human emotions.
