How Does Outpatient Alcohol Rehab Work in Eastern Washington

Table of Contents

Learning how to prepare for a successful future of sobriety happens in our outpatient alcohol rehab in Eastern Washington. This valuable stage near the end of rehab prepares people to re-enter “real life,” but not in the same way they lived before treatment. Outpatient rehab helps guests heal their mental, physical, and spiritual selves and develop self-reliant skills. As a result, they soon graduate from Cascade Heights strong, independent, well-equipped, and sober. Here’s how outpatient treatment works to provide such a change in our guests’ lives.

What Is Outpatient Alcohol Rehab in Eastern Washington?

Outpatient rehabilitation (OP) is a level of care in treatment for alcohol addiction. It is at a later level in the healing process when individuals receive more independence in their journey. This is because guests who are placed in outpatient rehab have either transitioned there from the earlier level, inpatient rehab or are ready regardless. Notably, during outpatient rehab, guests live at home but attend daily counseling and therapy sessions in our center in Eastern WA. These include group sessions, individual sessions, and family or couples therapy sessions if they wish. Their day-to-day schedule includes a combination of traditional therapy and holistic treatments to aid in relaxation, creative expression, deeper healing, and physical movement.

Outpatient programming is split into three possible treatment tracks. Individuals can transition directly into outpatient treatment, or they can work through our two flexible levels. These are the partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP). Often, individuals will complete the two flexible levels as a 12-week program, spending 8 weeks in PHP and 4 weeks in IOP. These accelerated-pace outpatient levels are for those who require a fast pace of treatment and cannot live in a center. Therefore, guests in PHP and IOP live at home but attend daily sessions at Cascade Heights. The hours of treatment are reduced from PHP to IOP since PHP is like an in-between level combining inpatient and outpatient.

Above all, during outpatient rehab, guests are in the final level of care before they graduate from Royal Life Centers’ programming. Emphasis is placed on their future of sobriety readiness to prepare them for life after graduation.

Inpatient Alcohol Rehab vs Outpatient Alcohol Rehab

As mentioned, inpatient alcohol rehab is an earlier level of care for people treating their alcohol dependency. In fact, inpatient rehab is the entry stage of recovery at Cascade Heights. The inpatient level includes medical detoxification and residential inpatient rehab. As such, individuals come into our programming needing urgent help to overcome their addiction. We help them remove substances from their bodies in our safe, professional detox center. Then, we help them begin the inner work of healing in therapy and counseling. One main difference between inpatient and outpatient treatment for alcohol is guests live in the center during inpatient rehab. Yet, they return home in the evenings after in-center sessions while they’re in the outpatient stage.

Who Can Benefit from Outpatient Alcohol Rehab?

Alcohol rehabilitation at Cascade Heights is designed for all people, regardless of their alcohol abuse background, financial background, or other demographics. Anyone who struggles with alcohol addiction should work with a professional treatment center to overcome their illness. To be more specific, the outpatient level of alcohol rehab is for those who are ready to receive reduced support. Yet, they still need assistance in preparing to successfully live a future of sobriety. People who are seeking support in their mental health wellness find what they’re looking for in outpatient (OP) rehab. Also, those who want help with concrete planning for their future goals are perfect candidates for outpatient care.

The Dangers of Alcohol Abuse

Because of how popular and prevalent drinking is within society, people often don’t realize how dangerous it is. The problem doesn’t lie in drinking itself, but rather unhealthy drinking tendencies that can lead to addiction. Alcohol is highly addictive, one of the most addictive substances. There are multiple levels of unsafe alcohol use, ranging from binge drinking to heavy drinking to alcohol abuse to alcohol disorder.

Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a medical condition of the brain where an individual can’t quit drinking because of their dependency. Just as drugs work on the brain to form addictive tendencies, alcohol stokes the reward system, which floods the body with pleasurable feelings. Drinking more often and higher quantities in a shorter amount of time leads to a faster addiction timeline. Thus, unhealthy drinking patterns, like heavy drinking, can turn into AUD. By the time you’ve developed an alcohol addiction, you will face painful withdrawal symptoms when you’ve been dry for too long. Plus, your tolerance will have grown to the point where you must drink more to get the same effects.

Alcohol can ruin your life by becoming the center of all you think about and desire and being frequently intoxicated and irritated until your next dose can devastate your future. Further, there are dangerous short- and long-term risks of alcohol abuse.

Short-term Dangers of Excessive Drinking

While addicted to alcohol, you can expect to experience certain short-term symptoms of alcohol abuse:

  • Blackouts
  • Fast heart rate
  • Reckless behavior
  • Strained relationships
  • Headaches
  • Disorientation
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Financial struggles
  • Loss of your passions, goals, and dreams
  • Losing the trust of others
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

Long-term Dangers of Excessive Drinking

The longer you struggle with your alcohol abuse problem, the more you put yourself at risk. Alcohol use disorder brings with it a wide range of potential dangers to your health.

  • Kidney damage
  • Seizures
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Stroke
  • Heart damage
  • Death

It’s hard to look at the facts and accept you could have a problem with alcohol and an inability to quit. If you want to have a better grasp on if you’re addicted to alcohol, you can take our alcohol questionnaire. It’s not meant as a medical diagnosis but rather is meant to be eye-opening about when to seek help.

What to Expect from Outpatient Alcohol Rehab in Eastern Washington

Sometimes, the scariest part of doing something new is the uncertainty. If you don’t know what to expect from our alcoholism treatment in Eastern Washington, you might avoid getting the help you need. In reality, rehab for alcohol follows a proven formula to help individuals find relief. Each guest works with our professional team to create a customized plan for their time in recovery. From there, they transition between the various levels of care as they grow in their healing. Through therapy and counseling, they explore the roots of their issues and foster holistic wellness. Our programming is tried and true to help individuals overcome their alcohol addiction. However, we assure your treatment is highly personalized and flexible according to each guest’s needs.

Individualized Treatment Plans

An individualized service plan (ISP) is your personalized guide to your treatment in our Eastern Washington rehab center. It outlines your treatment program tracks, such as whether you engage in dual-diagnosis treatment or medication-assisted treatment (MAT). It also provides a guideline to how long you will spend in each level of care. Yet, even after creating your ISP, your plan can be modified to match your progression. To determine the details of your rehab plan, you’ll meet with one of our substance abuse therapists.

Exceptional Care and Guidance

Everyone on staff at Cascade Heights is fully licensed and accredited to best serve our guests. Since we treat substance use disorders and mental health illnesses, we employ experts in both realms. You can expect to regularly engage with doctors, therapists, counselors, and case managers in outpatient alcohol treatment.

Evidence-Based Psychotherapy for Alcohol Abuse

Evidence-based psychotherapy is a traditional behavioral therapy that helps individuals unpack their deeper concerns and issues. Often, those with substance addiction have a background of trauma or mental illness that has enhanced their addiction. Otherwise, the process of addiction brings with it its own pain and trauma. Our therapists and counselors walk our guests through the work of understanding their unhealthy patterns and forming new behaviors.

Holistic Treatment for Alcohol Abuse

Additionally, we provide many holistic treatment options to help our guests address their bodies and spirits. Holistic therapy is a key inclusion in our person-centered rehab because it helps people heal physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. When combined with traditional therapy, the results are greater wellness and healthy habit formation.

Alumni and Aftercare Support

After our guests complete their rehab, they graduate and become Cascade Heights alumni. We love keeping our alumni connected to our Royal Life Centers family. Healing and support do not need to end after graduating from rehab. In fact, losing connection to a treatment facility after graduating increases the risk of relapse. Thus, we provide our alumni with aftercare support, including resources, events, recovery meetings, and sober housing during alcohol use treatment.

Not all alcohol and drug rehabs and addiction treatments will work for everyone. Finding a professional behavioral health and substance abuse treatment center can help you find a path to sobriety that works for you.
